The event: Join thousands of yard sale shoppers as they enjoy the 13th annual 70 Mile Coastal Yard Sale. Take the Northumberland Ferry to Wood Islands and arrive at the starting point. The yard sale route follows the stunning coastline and hills and valleys of south eastern PEI, west to Vernon Bridge, east to Beach Point and all communities in between. Over 150 sites offer antiques, collectibles and just about anything imaginable. Sites are held at private homes, community halls, churches and small businesses. See country roads and properties you would miss on any other weekend.

The booklet: This official booklet contains itemized site listings and a map of the route. All our business supporters are in the booklet. Check out their ads for specials and watch for the official numbered sites. These businesses, organizations and registered sites make the Yard Sale happen. The booklet is available in early September in The Eastern Graphic, which is eastern PEI's weekly newspaper, at PEI Visitor Information Centres, at local businesses, on the Northumberland ferry or you can download it from this web site.

Great food is available at local restaurants and at many sites. Watch for food inspection certificates proudly displayed by vendors. Or, stop in at one of our grocery stores and pick up the makings for a picnic to enjoy at the beach or at one of our provincial parks. You can enjoy freshly barbequed Island-made sausages at Plough the Waves Centre in Wood Islands.

Local attractions and services: There are three historic lighthouses in the area. The Wood Islands lighthouse, built in 1874, is now a museum featuring several exhibits of local seafaring history. The Point Prim lighthouse is the only round, brick lighthouse on PEI. The Cape Bear Marconi Station received the first distress signals from the Titanic. Each is well worth a visit. There are excellent golf courses in Belfast and Murray River, motels, restaurants and service stations and beautiful provincial parks with camping available.

Ceilidh: Join us for a ceilidh on the lawn of Plough the Waves Centre in Wood Islands on Sunday afternoon. Local entertainers celebrate the community spirit which makes this event so successful.

Remember to drive carefully and be patient while driving the route. Thousands of shoppers are out and about, and excitement abounds.

Once home, enjoy your treasures and bargains, and plan to harvest some more finds again next year at one of PEI's most popular fall events.
